May 16 marks World Education Support Personnel Day. Join us in celebrating the dedication of support staff and highlight the important role they hold within the Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB). From our schools to the Education Centre, WRDSB support staff are vital members of our education teams, and key to student success.

The incredible work of our support staff is evident every day as they ensure a safe, clean and welcoming environment for learning, and help to equip students with the knowledge, skills and sense of community they need to succeed in a rapidly-changing world.

As we have continued to navigate the uncertainties of the COVID-19 pandemic, our support staff have willingly taken on new challenges, while continuing to offer the high level of service that they are known for. As many will tell you, they are the glue that holds together the schools and departments they support, helping everyone to stay connected and engaged. They play an integral role in helping our students and staff, each and every day.

Today, and every day, we encourage you to let the support staff at your school know how grateful you are – a kind word or thank-you can go a long way. Share success stories, and moments of gratitude from happy students, colleagues, parents, caregivers or families. If you would like to publicly celebrate their achievements and share your gratitude by acknowledging their contributions, we invite you to on social media by using the hashtag #ESPday and tagging @wrdsb on Twitter or @wr_dsb on Instagram.
