We are in a unique situation in our school. We have a very limited capacity to accommodate vehicle traffic in and around our school. We are asking families to be particularly mindful of this. Whenever possible, please help us reduce the number of vehicles coming and going in front of our school each day.
With only a select few exceptions, cars are NOT permitted to come onto the school property for pick ups and drop offs. Exceptions are made for staff, patrons of our childcare centre, school buses and those with disabilities only.
Staff will be in the school yard at 8:15 every morning to start receiving the children. It is not necessary for parents to come all the way around to the back as our staff will be there to mind the children and ensure their safety. Quick drop offs help us to accommodate more vehicles.
To help keep the traffic to a minimum please consider using the school buses for those that are eligible.
If your child is able to walk, please have them walk. We have a crossing guard located at Myers Road and Gatehouse.
If you must drive please consider carpooling with a neighbour or “Drive to 5” which means drive until you are a five minute walk from the school.
Moffat Creek offers before and after school care through the YMCA, which gives you the freedom to drop off or pick up your child at your convenience anytime after 7 or before 6 giving you access to the parking lot and allowing you to avoid the traffic congestion all together.
Please be mindful that the parents with kindergarten students are required to physically hand off their children and will therefore need to use the very limited legal street parking that is available.
Please, please, please refrain from doing u-turns in front of the school. We cannot stress this enough. If you must drive your children to school PLEASE approach the school in the direction you need to pull away and DO NOT do a three point or u-turn in front of the school.
Thank you.
